Bob's Message!

Dear Church Family,

One of the old hymns I love to sing during June is the Summer Days are Come Again, the lyrics are the words of a Longfellow poem:

'The summer days are come again; Once more the glad earth yields
Her golden wealth of ripening grain, And breath of clover fields,
And deepening shade of summer woods, And glow of summer air,
And winging thoughts, and happy moods Of love and joy and prayer.
'

For me the epitome of a vision of summer is the image of two Adirondack chairs under an apple tree like Diane and I had at our last home. It was a place to sit with a cool drink after mowing the lawn, sensing the gentle summer breezes, or quietly reading a book.

May each of you be able to find such a quiet place this summer, a place to meet God in prayer, praise and thanksgiving, to renew your perspective on life, and find the time to share the thoughts of your heart.

God doesn’t take a vacation or relax in an Adirondack chair, but God is always beside us to listen and to care. Find your own quiet spot to rest with God. Have a wonderful summer and I’ll see you in church!

The following is a poem by Grace Easley which exemplifies these thoughts:

                   A Quiet Place

'Each person needs a quiet place
Wherein to meet God face to face,
A very private interlude,
There are things one cannot share
With another anywhere
Feelings that the heart has known,
Only meant for God alone.

Heartache often leaves a scar,
Being human as we are,
But in crowds one cannot find
That illusive peace-of-mind.
There’s a bit of hermit in
The most eloquent of men,
Who must leave the beaten track,
To get their lost perspective back

And though it is very true,
“No man is an island,” you
Must stop awhile and walk apart,
To hear the music of your heart.
Cast off the old distractions, find
God’s love beyond the dawn of time,
And entering a quiet place,Speak to your Maker, face to face.'

Yours in Christ,

Robert E. Duebber
Pastor

Town 250th Anniversary Parade:

     Sunday, September 27th at 1:00 P.M.

Our church has been invited to participate in the 250th anniversary parade in September. So far we have been unsuccessful in trying to locate a flat-bed truck or other vehicle we could use for a float to carry a model church with people in colonial costumes on it.

That’s one idea but we would like to hear yours. If you would be interested in working with a group in our church to plan for a float please call the church office (978-874-5790) or speak with Pastor Bob.

Coffee Hour Open House at the Parsonage

Remember the Christmas Open House at the parsonage that never happened because of the ice storm? The Duebber's have not forgotten. Although their Christmas trinkets have been packed away, the door is still open and the welcome mat is out. Following the Sunday service on June 28th, the coffee hour will be held at 20 Lovell St. and all are welcome. Please come for refreshments and conversation at YOUR lovely parsonage. Sorry, no candy canes this time!

Genealogy Interest Group

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. we will be in the Ladies Parlor and the Computer Lab. Please join us in searching for those elusive ancestors.

Any questions, contact the office (978-874-5790.)

SUMMER HELP WANTED
PEOPLE WITH MUSICAL TALENTS

Since the Choir has off from Children’s Day to Labor Day Sunday, we are looking for people to offer their musical gifts.

You can contact me through the Church Office, or speak to the Pastor, a member of the choir or the music committee - let us know that you want to be a part of helping to keep ‘your’ church’s music program going for this summer.

Ann Carley,
Interim/Acting Director of Music
